Cobble Hill Health Center is a not-for-profit long- and short-term care facility providing services to the disabled and elderly for over 40 years. The Assistant Director of Nursing will play an integral role in helping us to achieve our vision: to consistently exceed expectations and set the standard for excellence in residential and community care.

The Nursing Home Administrator provides leadership and direction for overall facility operations to provide quality patient care in accordance with all laws, regulations, and Cobble Hill standards.

Who you are:

  • You are well versed in organization, implementation, and operations. You will be responsible for transmitting, interpreting, and implementing policies, rules, and regulations that will affect the homes activities and personnel; You are an individual that is accomplished in establishing procedures for systematic performance of duties; and coordinating activities for all departments, giving direction as required.
  • You relish in developing, maintaining, and administering a sound plan of organization and are comfortable with the responsibility for management and supervision of all aspects of the homes activities, including planning and direction, public relations, budget and finance, personnel administration, volunteer services, purchase and supply, plant maintenance, housekeeping, general administrative services and coordination of medical staff activities into a patient care program.
  • A liaison among the governing board, medical staff and home personnel, encouraging the maintenance of professional and medical standards through insistence on an organized medical staff prepared to adhere to prescribed quality standards.
  • You have a knack for compliance and will ensure that rules and regulations of the State Board of Health, and other regulatory agencies are complied with regarding the operation of the health care facility.
  • Empowered to make staff appointments, re-appointments, confer privileges and terminate employment when deemed necessary.
  • A strong leader who will oversee development of the appropriate staff recruitment and training programs designed to implement and accomplish the homes overall goals and objectives.
  • Supervising the implementation of special Nursing Home programs focused on improving patient care activities.
  • A strong communicator, someone who will work closely with duly elected representatives of the employees' collective bargaining unit to assure good management labor relationships and continuity of operations.
  • Represents the institution in dealings with outside agencies including governmental and third party payers or sends representatives. Includes matters concerning Medicare and Medicaid, welfare, etc; being official spokesman for the institution representing the home at top level meetings. Will also represent the Nursing Home at professional meetings and at community activities.

What You'll Offer:

  • Thorough knowledge of state laws and regulations relating to Nursing Home operations, and knowledge of operational and personnel standards required by the appropriate accrediting and licensing agencies.
  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution
  • New York State Nursing Home Administrator License.
  • Successful completion of course in principles and practices of management, particularly as related to health care administration and long-term care programming.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a Hospital or Nursing Home.
  • The ability to keep abreast of current trends and be imaginative and innovative in the health care fields.
